Deluded by duality and doubt, in ego, he suffers in pain. Page 1092 Nothing is obtained without good fortune, no matter how much he wants. They come and go, take birth and die. They are freed through guruâs teaching. He does everything. Who can we complain to? When there is no one else? ||16|| Hymn, Third Master: In this world, the saints earn the wealth; they meet guru the God. The guru teaches the truth; the value of this wealth cannot be described. Obtaining this wealth, hunger is relieved, and peace comes to dwell in the mind. Only those who have pre-ordained destiny, obtain it. The world of the self-willed is poor, they cry for worldly wealth. Night and day, he wanders around, his hunger never vanishes. He is never content; peace does not dwell in the mind. He is always worried and his doubt never vanishes. O Nanak, without the guru, his intellect is perverted; if he meets the guru, then he practices guruâs teaching. He dwells in peace forever and merges in true Lord. ||1|| Third Master: He, who created the world, takes care of it. Recite one God O brother; no one is without Him. Eat the food of guruâs lesson; eating it gives satisfaction forever. Dress yourself in the praise of the Lord. He is pure forever, never gets dirty. Earning the wealth of contentment and truth never fall short. The body adorned with guruâs teaching is at peace forever. O Nanak, the guru-willed realizes God, whom He reveals Himself. ||2|| Ladder: Reciting guruâs teaching attains meditation, self-discipline and restraint. Reciting Godâs name eliminates ego and ignorance. The mind is full of nectar. Enjoy the taste only by tasting. Those who taste it become carefree; they are satisfied with Godâs sublime taste. Those who drink it by Godâs grace are not troubled by death. ||17|| Hymn, Third Master: People tie bundles of demerits; no one trades in virtue. The buyers of virtues are rare O Nanak, Virtues are obtained by guruâs grace, whoever God blesses. ||1|| Third Master: Merits and demerits are the same; the Creator creates them both. O Nanak, obeying Godâs order obtains peace contemplating guruâs teaching. ||2|| Ladder: The King sits on the throne inside the body; He administers justice. Godâs court is realized through guruâs teaching. His support is also inside. The genuine are appraised and put in the treasure; there is no place for counterfeit. Truth prevails everywhere and truth administered forever. Enshrining Godâs name in the mind enjoys the taste of nectar. ||18|| Hymn, First Master: When I act in ego, You are not there. When You are there then there is no ego. Page 1093 O spiritual man, understand this; the unspoken speech in the mind. Without the guru, the reality is not found. The invisible Lord dwells in all. He is realized by meeting the guru when his teaching enshrines in the mind. When ego departs, doubt and fear also depart, and the pain of birth and death is removed.
